Breast Lift

Breast Lift in Manhattan, NYC
Are your breasts sagging or drooping? Whether due to age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or gravity, a breast lift performed by board-certified Manhattan plastic surgeon and general surgeon Richard W. Swift, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S. can help restore your breasts’ youthful appearance.

What Is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift removes excess skin, fat, and other tissue and restructures the underlying muscle to reposition the breasts to be more “perky” and youthful looking. It can and is often used together with breast augmentation (breast implants) to reshape and restore a breast’s shapeliness.

Benefits of a Breast Lift
Many women who choose to have a breast lift do so as a personal gift to themselves – a way to turn back time. After surgery, they tell us that they feel the following benefits:

  • Younger and less self-conscious about their body
  • More feminine and positive about their self-image
  • Greater overall happiness with their body

Breast Lift Before and After
We invite you to browse our extensive catalog of cosmetic surgeries and treatments to see the types of results Dr. Swift has obtained for his patients. Keep in mind that each individual is different and that you’ll learn more about the outcome you can expect from your specific surgery or treatment at your consultation with Dr. Swift.

How Is a Breast Lift Performed?
A breast lift takes approximately 1.5-3.5 hours to perform and involves one of three incision types depending on the breast shape: a donut-shaped incision around the areola; a lollipop-shaped incision around the areola and down the crease of the breasts; or an anchor-shaped incision around the areola, down the breast, and along the breast crease.

Through the incision, Dr. Swift will lift and reshape the breast tissue higher on the chest. The nipple and areola may be situated higher on the breast and extra skin may be removed from the areola if it is enlarged. Excess skin is trimmed and the resulting work is then stitched and covered with surgical dressings.

Preparing for a Breast Lift
You should stop smoking for at least two weeks before and two weeks after your surgery. Smoking can increase the risk of complications and slow healing. Do not drink alcohol at least a week before surgery. You may be advised not to lift, bend or undergo any vigorous exercise while you’re recovering. If you have small children, you may need to make arrangements for their care.

Breast Lift Recovery
Dr. Swift may recommend that you wear an elastic bandage or surgical bra for a few days after surgery to help the breasts conform to their new shape. He will probably also recommend a soft support bra, which should be worn at all times for about a month.

You will probably feel swollen and bruised after surgery; you may feel some discomfort, which can be treated with oral medication. Numbness in the breasts and nipples will dissipate as the breasts heal. Most patients return to work after one or two weeks.

Is a Breast Lift Right for Me?
If you feel like your breasts have lost elasticity since pregnancy, aging, or breastfeeding, a breast lift may be the right procedure for you. Women who have a breast lift experience the best results when they have realistic expectations and follow proper pre- and post-operative procedures to speed healing.

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
Costs for your breast lift in Manhattan will vary depending on the extent of surgery or the number of treatments needed to achieve your desired result. Most insurance plans do not cover plastic surgery or specific cosmetic treatments. Dr. Swift accepts payment via cash, check, or credit card, as well as Prosper Healthcare Lending as a financing option.
