Arm Lift in Manhattan, NYC
Droopy, saggy skin around your arms can lead to what some people jokingly call “bat wings.” Whether caused by aging or significant weight gain, an arm lift performed by board-certified Manhattan plastic surgeon and general surgeon Richard W. Swift, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S. can help correct this issue and restore a more toned appearance to your arms.
What Is an Arm Lift?
An arm lift removes excess fat to help give added contour and lift to the upper arms. It is most commonly used in people who have lost a significant amount of weight yet still have stubborn fat or excess skin clinging to their upper arms.

How Is an Arm Lift Performed?
An arm lift is an outpatient procedure performed under anesthesia. Dr. Swift will make an incision on the inside or the back of your arm. Incisions vary depending on how much skin and fat you’ll need removed. Dr. Swift may limit the incision to the area where the inner upper arm meets the armpit, or he may extend the incision from the elbow to the armpit and onto the side of the chest. He will remove excess fat with liposuction and trim excess skin to give your arms a more well-defined appearance. The remaining skin is tightened and sutured into place.
Preparing for an Arm Lift
Because an arm lift removes both skin and fat, it’s best if you have good skin tone and only a minor amount of fat. Larger fat deposits may be better served by liposuction in the upper arms. As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, avoiding alcohol and nicotine, as well as eating a healthy diet, can help speed up the healing process.
Arm Lift Recovery
Your arms will be wrapped in bandages or a compression garment, which should stay in place until Dr. Swift says you can remove it. He may recommend that you keep your arms elevated for a few days and slowly introduce normal movement of the arms and hands.
Your upper arms will be swollen and may feel tight, but these symptoms should resolve within a few weeks. If you feel a lot of discomfort, Dr. Swift will prescribe pain medication to ease your recovery.
Is an Arm Lift Right for Me?
If you feel self-conscious about the look of your arms and are embarrassed to wear t-shirts or tank tops, an arm lift may be the right choice for you. Dr. Swift can properly evaluate your candidacy for an arm lift, so contact our office today to schedule your consultation.
How Much Does an Arm Lift Cost?
Costs for your arm lift treatment will vary depending on the extent of surgery or the number of treatments needed to achieve your desired result. Most insurance plans do not cover plastic surgery or specific cosmetic treatments. Dr. Swift accepts payment via cash, check, or credit card, as well as Prosper Healthcare Lending as a financing option.
